 Selection of Filter Size and Mesh:
1. Consider the cleanliness of molten metal and the pouring temperature.
2. Take into account the pouring head of molten iron, and calculate the pouring area to meet the requirements of pouring time.
3. Try to use a bottom-pouring gating system to avoid air entrainment.
4. Calculate and select the filter plate area based on filtering capacity and pouring time requirements.
5. Filtering capacity of silicon carbide foam ceramic plates (Kg/cm²): Gray iron: 4.0; Ductile iron: 2.0; Alloy cast iron: 1.0–2.0.
6. Generally, 20ppi is used for gray iron, and 10ppi for ductile iron. 15ppi or 25ppi can also be selected. The mesh selection is related to various factors of actual pouring.
